A Nightmare in the Morning

A poem

Photo by raquel raclette on Unsplash

Dust gathers on my eyelids
in a cancerous crematorium
without the flames.
The nightmare lingers
in my morning room.
The fear unsignified,
the memory wafts
like ash.

The doors of affect
between here and there
open
so I can be brought
to bear.
